Dairy farmers from all regions of Victtoria will join with industry service providers for the inaugral Dairy Farmers Victoria Forum this Wednesday. Ten months after commencing, the Association established to represent the states 3000 dairy farmers is hosting its first Forum at the Airport Motel and Convention Center in Attwood.

The Forum will feature discussion about key policy issues:

  • What’s the new milk price paradigm driving Australian milk production and price? Are imports a threat? How have global events affected the dairy price over the past few years, and how will they impact the next twelve months?
  • Advances in fertiliser technologies offer farmers the tools to improve the efficiency of applied nutrients and increase their pasture production,
  • Recognising the Dairy Industry’s commitment to providing the best care for animals. We will discuss the animal welfare legislation reform process in Victoria, provide an overview of the surplus calf roadmap, and discuss the Victorian State legislative process.

The Forum Keynote address will be provided by The Honourable Jeffrey Kennett AC followed by a facilitated discussion with Adam Jenkins, during which members will be asked to discuss the structure of the branches, the regions for growth, membership options, and the connection between members on issues and policy development.

"This is a Forum about New Beginnings. As a State, we have a proud dairy heritage and as an Association we have a commitment to support our members and the broader industry so that our future is also something we can also be proud of.

"The topics that we discuss today will strengthen our ability to advocate on issues of importance for our industry and help us to build robust structures giving opportunity for all who seek to be involved in.
